Another day, another in-state commit for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry.
Thursday morning, the Hokies third-year coach had six commitments in the Class of 2025 with five of those recruits coming from the state of Virginia. Now, the former Penn State defensive coordinator has picked up his seventh commitment and sixth from the Commonwealth.
Virginia Tech football gets a commitment from Christian Evans
Three-star defensive end Christian Evans, who has been on Virginia Tech's radar for some time, announced his commitment to the Hokies, just days after 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction came back for Virginia Tech. The Ashburn, Va. native picked the Hokies over North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Virginia. He had a visit scheduled for this week in Oklahoma, but that was canceled. He made his decision less than a week after taking an official visit to Blacksburg.
Evans, who is 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, joins DeSoto, Texas quarterback Kelden Ryan, and in-state recruits from Virginia, linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh, wide receiver Jayden Anderson, cornerback Knahlij Harrell, offensive lineman Carter Stallard, and last week, cornerback Sheldon Robinson committed to Pry and Virginia Tech.
Evans, the 22nd-ranked player in Virginia, is one of 15 recruits visiting Blacksburg this weekend in what is a huge recruiting weekend for Pry. The newest recruit told 247Sports that he is going to spend this weekend recruiting other potential future teammates, including running back Jeffery Overton, defensive end Jaquavious Dodd, and safety Cole Woodson.
