Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech: How to Watch, Odds & History
By Scott Roche
Coming in on a two-game winning streak, the Virginia Tech football team will look to extend that streak to three games on Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium against Georgia Tech. Just who will be under center for the Yellow Jackets remains to be seen.
Starter Haynes King was ruled out against Notre Dame last week and backup Zachary Pyron filled in. Tuesday head coach Brent Key said that King was “day-to-day” and if Pyron needed to start, it wouldn’t be his first in Blacksburg after starting there two years ago in a 28-27 Georgia Tech victory.
As far as the Hokies go, they are coming off a record night for running back Bhayshul Tuten and edge rusher Antwaun Powell-Ryland. Tuten rushed for a single-game program record 266 yards and Powell-Ryland recorded four sacks of Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos. At 2-1 in the ACC, Virginia Tech is still in the running for a berth in the ACC Championship Game, but beating the Yellow Jackets is needed to continue to keep that goal alive.
