The Virginia Tech Spring Game will be played at Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Quarterback Kyron Drones will not play in the game, as he is out with a medical procedure that the school announced last weekend.
This year, head coach Brent Pry wants to play the game like a normal game in the first half with a 15-minute first quarter, but he shaved off three minutes in the second quarter to make it a 12-minute quarter. The second half will be played with 12-minute quarters with a running clock. Pry said that the teams would be split into two teams, Orange and Black, evenly for the contest.
Baseball host Florida State in Top 25 series
For the second straight week, the Hokies baseball team cracked the Top 25, this time for D1Baseball, coming in at No. 25. They picked up a win over No. 20 Troy on Wednesday night in Blacksburg and now get another shot at a Top 25 opponent when Florida State, currently No. 9, visits this weekend.
Virginia Tech will be looking for their fourth straight ACC series victory after winning two out of three against Louisville and Notre Dame and sweeping Wake Forest in between. After beating Troy, the Hokies now have six wins over ranked teams this season.
Softball to host Notre Dame
Bre Peck put her name in the record books on Tuesday in the Hokies’ softball team’s 12-3 non-conference win over Charoltte on Tuesday night, setting the program record for home runs and RBIs. Now, Peck and the Hokies will return to Tech Softball Park to host Notre Dame, looking to extend their winning streak to at least 14 games.
Lacrosse ends five-game losing streak
Stuck in a five-game losing streak, the Hokies women’s lacrosse team snapped it with a 12-11 non-conference victory over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night. Now, they’ll look to end a four-game ACC losing streak on Saturday afternoon at noon when they host No. 11 Syracuse at Thompson Field. It’s certainly going to be a busy weekend in Blacksburg.
