As we enter the second half of June, football recruiting visits are beginning to wrap up, and rising seniors in the Class of 2026 are beginning to make their college decisions. Brent Pry and his staff have hosted several recruits over the last couple of weeks and have gotten mixed results in terms of commitments.
Last week was a mixed results of news when four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren de-committed after announcing his commitment in January, but Pry got a pair of commitments over the weekend from Kamren Johnson and Kamdon Gillespie. Another recruit, four-star defensive back Andre Carter, Jr., was supposed to be on campus in Blacksburg this weekend for a visit, but it's not happening.
Carter canceled his visit to Virginia Tech and moved up his commitment to next week, and according to Tim Thomas of The Tech Lunch Pail, Carter will choose between Michigan, Florida State, Miami, SMU, and Kentucky. This is a recruiting loss for Pry and his staff as they couldn't even get a visit from the Richmond native. Another Commonwealth recruit is headed out of Virginia.
Former Virginia Tech assistant coach heads to Stetson
When the Hokies' season ended in the first round of the ACC Tournament at the hands of California, it ended a frustrating 13-19 season for Mike Young and his team. It has been another offseason of roster changes, including on the coaching staff. Young announced that Christian Webster would not be returning, and three months later, he has found a new home.
Walker is headed south to Florida, where he'll join Donnie Jones' staff as an assistant coach at Stetson University. With Webster leaving Blacksburg, it opened a spot for former assistant coach Chester Frazier to return to Virginia Tech, and his return has been felt in terms of recruiting already.
