It's safe to say that it has been a long week in Blacksburg for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff in terms of recruiting. They are hosting another weekend of visitors, and they are coming off a whirlwind 24 hours on the recruiting trail.

On Thursday, wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina, who committed to the Hokies in January, de-committed to reopen his recruiting. He becomes the second member of the Class of 2026 to de-commit after four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone reopened his recruiting in November after committing last June.

Friday, Virginia Tech picked up a commitment in the Class of 2026 when Green Run's Kamren Johnson, an edge, picked the Hokies over Virginia and Pittsburgh. That was a big win for Pry, and on Saturday, he was hoping to pick up his second commitment in as many days when defensive linemen Kamdon Gillespie was making his decision between Virginia Tech and another ACC school, Georgia Tech.

Kamdon Gillespie commits to Virginia Tech

Gillespie, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound rising senior from Mooresville, North Carolina, committed to Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon over Georgia Tech, which is another recruiting win for Pry and the Hokies over ACC foes in just over 24 hours. Gillespie was scheduled to take a visit to South Florida later this month, but instead, he moved his decision up.

Gillespie had a monster junior season in 2024 with 61 tackles, 25 for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, eight sacks, and three fumble recoveries. You can watch some tape of him here. He is the fourth commitment for Pry in the rising senior class, but they are still trailing Wake Forest for the least amount of commits in the conference, as the Demon Deacons are right above the Hokies with six.
