On Wednesday, the spring football transfer portal is going to open. Last season saw some players exit Blacksburg and some come in. As is the case every year, there is expected to be some movement and already its been reported that two Virginia Tech players will enter when it opens.

Virginia Tech QB Davi Belfort to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday

On Tuesday, it was reported that quarterback Davi Belfort will enter the portal, leaving head coach Brent Pry with four quarterbacks currently. The problem is that Kyron Drones underwent a medical procedure a week ago and is expected to be ready for summer workouts. Backup Pop Watson missed Saturday's Spring Game with a tissue issue, according to head coach Brent Pry. He said if it was a game in the fall that Watson would have tried to go, but they held him out for caution. The other two signal callers are true freshmen A.J. Brand and Kelden Ryan.

Belfort will have four years of eligibility remaining and moving on gives him a better position to start somewhere else. This is the second straight year that Virginia Tech has lost a quarterback to the spring portal window as Dylan Wittke hit the portal last spring and ended up at Minnesota.

Also entering the portal this cycle is offensive lineman Web Davidson. A redshirt freshman, Davidson was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to 247Sports, and he did not appear in a game for the Hokies. The 6-foot-6, 296-pound Davidson was the 122nd ranked offensive linemen in his class according to 247Sports.

This leaves the door open for Pry to look for another quarterback in the spring portal after getting UCLA's Collin Schlee last spring. With the injury history of Drones, another experienced QB in the room in Blacksburg is a must this spring.
