Since arriving in Blacksburg, first-year Virginia Tech women's basketball coach Megan Duffy has found some success in recruiting. She already has commitments in the Class of 2025 from four-star guard Katie Sears and four-star forward Amani Jenkins.
With recruiting starting to heat up in the Class of 2026 this summer, it's going to be a big season for the rising juniors with their recruitment and Thursday night, on highly recruited guard from Minnesota released her Top 6, and Virginia Tech was included.
Virginia Tech makes Top 6 for Tori Oehrlein
Class of 2026 guard Tori Oehrlein from Minnesota announced her Top 6 Thursday night and Virginia Tech was on the list with Minnesota, Utah, Michigan, Maryland, and Florida. It's going to be interesting to see where the Hokies end up with her recruiting with her home state Gophers also in the mix.
Oehrlein is a rising player in the Class of 2026 and is ranked 46th in her class by ESPN HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings Super 60. This past season as a sophomore, she became the fastest Minnesota high school player in state history to score 3,000 points, doing it in January. The Crosby-Ironton junior is 5-foot-11 and scored 114 points, grabbed 43 rebounds, 13 assists, and 15 steals in her school's three state tournament games last season.
Duffy is facing a big first season as head coach of the Hokies and with recruiting off to a good start with the Class of 2025 and making the Top 6 for Oehrlein is another positive step for the program. She would be a big addition to the program in two years with what Duffy is building in Blacksburg.
