Virginia Tech coach Megan Duffy secures second huge Class of 2025 commitment
By Scott Roche
It's been almost three full months since Megan Duffy was hired by Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock to replace Kenny Brooks who left for Kentucky in late March following the Hokies' second-round elimination of the NCAA Tournament at the hands of Baylor in Blacksburg.
Since being hired, Duffy has gotten some retainment from the 2023-24 Virginia Tech roster, while some players left and followed Brooks to Lexington to play for him, which is and was no surprise. Duffy has been very busy since arriving at Tech and she is building the future and putting her own fingerprints on the program and Sunday, she picked another Class of 2025 recruit.
Amani Jenkins commits to Megan Duffy and Virginia Tech
When Duffy was at Marquette, she recruited Amani Jenkins, a Johnston, Iowa native, and she got a commitment from her to join her in Wisconsin. However, after Duffy accepted the same position at Virginia Tech, Jenkins re-opened her recruiting and on Sunday, for the second time, she committed to Duffy.
Jenkins is the 82nd-ranked prospect by ESPN and joins classmate and Virginia Tech commit Katie Sears, the 85th-ranked prospect by ESPN, as Duffy's first two commitments in the Class of 2025 at her new school.
A 6-foot-2 forward, Jenkins committed to Marquette back in November and is going to be a key piece of the Class of 2025 for Duffy, who is off to a very good start recruiting in less than three months on the job in Blacksburg.
