Thanksgiving means one thing, we are closing in on another Commonwealth battle on the gridiron between Virginia Tech and Virginia. This season's edition will take place at Lane Stadium on Saturday night in primetime at 8 o'clock.
It is the second straight primetime slot for Brent Pry and his team after suffering a 31-28 look at Duke last Saturday night. Like they were against the Blue Devils last week, the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network, but who will be the voices you hear announcing the game for four quarters?
Who are the announcers for Virginia Tech vs. Virginia?
If you watch the game on the ACC Network, ESPN+, or streaming at ESPN.com, you will hear Wes Durham handling the play-by-play duties with Tom Luginbill the analyst, and Dana Boyle handling the sideline duties. It's the same crew that was in Durham last weekend.
Luginbill has a Sunday morning show on College Sports Radio on SiriusXM and a day after the Hokies opened the season with a loss at Vanderbilt, he had some thoughts on the loss for Virginia Tech. The ACC Huddle Crew will also be in Blacksburg for the first time since the season opener in 2023 during the Hokies win over Old Dominion.
This is a huge game for both teams as the winner becomes bowl-eligible and the loser will begin a long and cold off-season without more practice or a game later next month. There are a lot of questions as to who will be available for Virginia Tech in terms of injuries in the must-win game.
This TV crew did a good job last week at Duke and is not a bad crew to have on the call for the game with what is at stake.
