Going into a must-win against Virginia on Saturday night at Lane Stadium, the Virginia Tech football team is a banged-up group. To compound matters, they are banged up at one vital position, leaving the position a question mark right up until kick-off.

Tuesday, Pry said that both quarterbacks, Kyron Drones and Collin Schlee, were again questionable for the game against the Cavaliers. However, on the depth chart that was released, Drones was listed as the starter and Schlee the backup. It remains to be seen if that is indeed what happens.

Drones missed the game against Syracuse on Nov. 2, and played a week later against Clemson, but was clearly not healthy. After the bye week on Nov. 16, he did not dress against Duke last Saturday night in the Hokies’ 31-28 loss. Schlee started and was injured at the end of the first quarter against the Blue Devils and did not return, He was replaced by Pop Watson.

"I don't have the answer to that right now,'' said Pry. "They are both questionable. I'd say Schlee is a little further along."

Judging by those comments, whoever starts under center against the Cavaliers would not be surprising. Sounds like there’s going to be a lot of standing around and watching while Watson and Davi Belfort take first and second-team reps.

"Obviously, right now, he'll (Watson) get the reps with the 1s in practice today,'' Pry said. "Pop getting these significant snaps with the starting group is going to help him. He repped a bunch last week with the 2nd group. The other guy getting some attention in practice is Davi. Right now we have four quarterbacks we're trying to get ready to play."

Watson did impress in the final three quarters against Duke, stepping up and making some big throws. Yes, he did make mistakes as you would expect, but he gave Virginia Tech a chance to win in the end.
