Don't look now, but we're less than three months away from Megan Duffy beginning her third season as head coach of the Virginia Tech women's basketball team. Her first season ended just missing the NCAA Tournament, while her second season ended with a berth in the NCAA Tournament, but was bounced in the first round by Oregon.
Earlier this month, the Hokies' men's basketball team released its non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, and on Monday, the women released theirs, which will be a home-friendly schedule.

Virginia Tech women's basketball drops non-conference schedule for 2026-27
This is an interesting schedule for Duffy and the Hokies. It kicks off against North Carolina Central at home before Delaware visits. On Nov. 8, the Hokies will host James Madison in what will be an early-season test and revenge game after the Dukes eked out a win last season at home. The lone true road game for Virginia Tech will be on Nov. 12 at VCU. After a home game with La Salle, the Hokies will head to Florida.
Virginia Tech will play in the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Florida, on Nov. 23 and 24. They open with UT Martin in the first game, before they play either Michigan State or Alcorn State. In terms of building an NCAA Tournament résumé, they will love to play the Spartans and pick up a win. The Hokies close out the month at home with UNC Greensboro on Thanksgiving Weekend.
In December, they will host the SEC/ACC Challenge game on Dec. 3 against Tennessee. The month closes with home games against App State, Campbell, Radford, and Charleston. Thirteen non-conference games, 10 inside Cassell Coliseum.
The ACC slate will be dropped sometime in the coming weeks, but expect it to start with one game before the Christmas break in December, before things kick into full gear around the New Year. As far as the non-conference schedule goes, the three most important games are against JMU, Tennessee, and likely Michigan State. To avoid sweating out Selection Sunday, sweeping those games would go a long way toward safely being in the field. They also would have to avoid an upset in any other game.
