July can tend to be a slow month in terms of news and rumors when it comes to women's college basketball. That wasn't the case for Megan Duffy and the Virginia Tech women. Despite offseason workouts in full effect, the Hokies added to their 2026-27 roster with an addition in the middle.
Jessica Dimaro, who hails from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, was added to Virginia Tech's roster as the 13th player. The 6-foot-4 Dimaro was named the W League Rookie of the Year in 2024-25, and this past season, she averaged 12 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game. She had four 20-point-plus games. You can never have enough depth in college basketball; that's for sure.
Not to be outdone by the high school recruiting class, Virginia Tech also picked up an early commitment in the Class of 2027 from combo guard Lillie Graves from Lafayette, Indiana. A Top 100 player in her class, she will join the latest commitment in the class from four-star guard Dani Robinson., who committed in July. The California native is the 36th-ranked player in the class according to ESPN Top 100.

- There are a handful of additions from the Transfer Portal for Virginia Tech for the upcoming season, including Lauren Hurst from Tennessee. She explained why she decided on the Hokies in the portal. "I have a lot of connections with all the coaches from different schools, and the girls here have made it an easy choice to come,'' Hurst said. Again, in this day and age of college athletics, relationships are key when it comes to an ever-changing roster year in and year out.
- Virginia Tech announced it will be heading to Florida around Thanksgiving to take part in the four-team 2026 Emerald Coast Classic. On Nov. 23, the semifinals will pit Alcorn State against Michigan State at noon, followed by the Hokies and UT Martin at 2:30. The consolation game will be at noon on Nov. 24, and the championship game will follow that afternoon at 2:30.
