Virginia Tech Will Sport All Maroon Uniforms This Saturday
By Roy Hatfield
This has not been the best college football season for the Hokies. The Hokies enter Saturday’s contest against Clemson with a paltry 5-4 record. This is a record that certainly disappoints the Hokie base that had perhaps unrealistic expectations heading into the 2024 campaign. The offense was plagued by slow starts early in the season, and the defense has had some serious collapses in some close-ball games.
Pry took some personal accountability earlier this week in the close losses (Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Miami, and Syracuse), but that does little to salve the Hokie’s wounds as they face another probable defeat on Saturday. Clemson comes to Blacksburg a desperate club that still has big dreams for 2024. After getting an old-fashioned trip to the woodshed, Clemson ran off six straight victories. In a surprising loss at home to Louisville last Saturday night in a 33-21 setback, Clemson looks to get right against the Hokies.
The past few seasons have been tough to be a Hokies fan. One of the things that has been fun to talk about is the unique uniform combinations that have been rolled out. This weekend is no different as the Hokies are rolling with the all maroon look. This year no matter, really, what the Hokies have rolled out for uniforms, the look has been sharp.
It not only appears that the Hokies will be sporting the all maroon units, but it also appears they will “stripe” Lane Stadium on Saturday. This is where the fans should wear orange or maroon depending on their seat assignment. We’ve seen this before, and it’s a pretty cool look. Naysayers would argue that it’s an excuse to hide all the Clemson fans in Lane. I don’t think Virginia Tech will have a problem putting all the Hokie fans on center stage.
