The pipeline between Green Run High School and Virginia Tech for football is wide open for business. The Virginia Beach to Blacksburg train does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. That is good news for Hokies coach Brent Pry.
In the Class of 2025, Virginia Tech has three commitments from Green Run, and so far in the Class of 2026, two of the seven commitments to date that Pry has are from Green Run. In 10 days, the pipeline could gain another one, and it would be a big one if it happens.
Virginia Beach native Thomas Wilder sets July 4 commitment date with Virginia Tech landing a Crystal Ball
Four-star offensive lineman Thomas Wilder took his visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend and was impressed with what the Hokies had to offer. It was his final visit before he makes his commitment on July 4 with Maryland, Penn State, and North Carolina in the Final Four. A 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction has been placed on Wilder committing to the Hokies.
Wilder is one of the top prospects in the Commonwealth, and the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder would be a tremendous pickup for new offensive line coach Matt Moore and Pry. Currently, Virginia Tech has one offensive lineman committed in the Class of 2026, with Buddy Wegdam committing last week.
In the Class of 2025, Virginia Tech has commitments from former Green Run alums Jayden Anderson, Knahlij Harrell, and Zeke Chinwike, while two current rising senior teammates at Green Run, edge Kamren Johnson and cornerback Zaevion Cleveland, have already committed to the Hokies. Wilder would make it at least three Virginia Beach commits in the last two recruiting classes.
Pry certainly has made massive strides recruiting in Virginia, and getting a commitment from Wilder on July 4 would strengthen his hold on in-state recruiting.
