After beginning the season 7-2 with two good showings in South Carolina and Charlotte, the Virginia Tech softball team was looking to make a second statement in 2026 against the SEC. The Hokies opened the season by winning all five games in Columbia, South Carolina, including two over the Gamecocks.

After splitting four games in Charlotte last weekend, Virginia Tech once again went on the road in the SEC, this time to No. 12 Georgia for five games, which turned into four after one game on Saturday was rained out. What wasn't rained out was Virginia Tech's two games with the No. 12 Bulldogs, and once again, Pete D'Amour's club swept an SEC foe, this time Georgia.

It may only be February, but you can't deny that the Hokies are building an impressive NCAA Tournament résumé already. After winning two over the Gamecocks a couple of weeks ago, Virginia Tech won two games in impressive fashion over Georgia. After winning 9-3 on Saturday, they won by the same score on Sunday to improve to 11-2 on the season.

The 20th-ranked Hokies trailed 3-0 through three innings on Sunday, but five runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth broke the game open. Leading the way with three hits, including a home run and two RBIs, was Addison Foster. Nora Ambromavage had a home run as part of her two hits, while Kylie Aldridge and Jordan Lynch each had two hits and drove in a run. Michelle Chatfield and Annika Rohs each drove in a run for Virginia Tech.

The Hokies will travel next weekend to Auburn to play five more games to close out February and begin March. On Friday, Virginia Tech will play USC Upstate and Auburn, before playing Troy and Auburn on Saturday. They will close out the weekend against USC Upstate on Sunday.
