The last two years, the seasons have started well for the Virginia Tech baseball team, only to have April and May swoons that ended up costing them a berth in the NCAA Tournament. It has been a frustrating end to the last two seasons for John Szefc with teams that were more than good enough to make the 64-team field in June.

It has been a busy offseason for the veteran Hokies coach, who made some staff changes and did some work through the Transfer Portal. It was a good fall for Hokies Diamond Nine. The 2026 season will be an interesting one for Virginia Tech, and they have released their schedule for next spring, and it is loaded with some marquee matchups both in the non-conference and on their ACC slate.
