After an eventful first month of the 2025 college football season that saw Virginia Tech fire head coach Brent Pry, lose three out of their four non-conference games, and their win being over an FCS school, the Hokies will finally begin ACC play.
That first conference game will be in Raleigh, N.C. against North Carolina State at 7 p.m. at Carter-Finley Stadium. The Hokies will be bringing a roster that is still very much in flux after the firing of Pry and players having the option to redshirt and enter the Transfer Portal. Tucker Holloway and Dante Lovett have already done so.
Virginia Tech's first availability report of the season for ACC games was released, and it was a lengthy one for both the Hokies and Wolfpack. There are some names on it for Virginia Tech that are injured, and some you have to believe are still weighing their options about their college football future.

Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina State: Prediction
This spread has been fairly consistent since it opened last weekend, and not surprising how high it is. The Wolfpack come in off a 45-33 loss at Duke last weekend and will look to turn things around against the Hokies after their first loss of the season. Quarterback Kyron Drones will need to protect the ball better than he has in the first four weeks, and the offensive line will have to protect better. Defensively, NC State QB CJ Bailey is one of the better signal callers in the ACC, and against a Hokies defense rolling out a lot of young talent, look for him to test the secondary downfield early and often.
