When James Franklin was at Penn State, he was in the mix for a lot of the top recruits in the country. That has been the case since he was hired back in November in Blacksburg after being fired at Penn State.

When Franklin was with the Nittany Lions, one recruit in the Class of 2027 that he showed a lot of interest in was quarterback Peter Bourque from Massachusetts. He was a priority for Franklin and Penn State quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien. Bourque ended up committing to Michigan and Sherrone Moore.

However, when Moore was let go in December, Bourque de-committed from the Wolverines and reopened his recruiting. Several top programs have shown interest in him, and despite changing schools, Franklin and O'Brien are clearly still in the mix.

Virginia Tech is hosting No. 7-ranked Class of 2027 quarerback Peter Bourque this weekend

According to Rivals, Bourque, who plays at Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass., is the seventh-ranked QB in the Class of 2027. He is going to be in Blacksburg this weekend for the Hokies spring game on Saturday, and you can bet that Franklin and O'Brien are making his a priority.

Last fall, Bourque threw for 2,241 yards for Tabor Academy and 18 touchdowns. He was named the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. At 6-foot-4, Bourque is a pocket passer who has a strong arm, according to Andrew Ivins of 247Sports.

"Towering pocket passer with a live arm that has turned heads with his exit velocity, release points and ball placement. Will head to college with a little more seasoning than others after electing to reclassify and move back a year,'' Ivins wrote.

This is a huge visit for Franklin and O'Brien. Penn State, Notre Dame, and Georgia are also in the mix for Bourque. Look for the Hokies to leave a good impression this weekend.
