Early Tuesday evening, Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin picked up a commitment from three-star edge Xavier Perkins from Durham, North Carolina, over ACC schools Louisville, Duke, and Miami. He is the latest defensive lineman in the Class of 2027 to commit to the Hokies.

Earlier in the day, Franklin was in the mix for four-star quarterback Andre Adams. The Nashville, Tennessee, native had the Hokies, Kentucky, Colorado, and Florida State as his final four. In a not-so-surprising decision, he committed to Deion Sanders and Colorado. He is the 165th-ranked player in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking.

Perkins commitment later on Tuesday gives Franklin four commits in the rising senior class. This upcoming weekend will be a busy one in terms of visits with the spring game on Saturday.
