The quarterback position at Virginia Tech this year is deep with a lot of interesting players. Kyron Drones will enter summer workouts as the presumed QB1, and Pop Watson is the presumed QB2. Davi Belfort is also back, along with a pair of mid-year enrollees in the Class of 2025.

Kelden Ryan from Texas and A.J. Brand from South Carolina are taking part in spring practices and from all reports, they have looked good. Following practice No. 12 on Tuesday, Watson spoke about the two incoming freshmen and had nothing but praise for both of them.

"They came in with same swag I came in with,'' said Watson. "I just feel like they can do everything under the sun. A.J. and Kelden are two funny guys, but they're hard workers as well, and I feel like the sky is the limit for those guys.''

You can add Watson as someone who likes both players and that is a good sign for the future.

Women’s basketball transfer finds new home

Megan Duffy lost some players to the portal in the last couple of weeks with Lani White being the biggest. Also entering was freshman Ramiya White who averaged just 1.4 points a game in limited playing time. She has found a new home for the 2025-26 season.

Ramiya White committed to Kansas State in the portal and will make the move from the ACC to the Big 12.The Wildcats made the NCAA Tournament this year and pulled off a second round upset of former VIrginia Tech coach Kenney Brooks and Kentucky to advance to the Sweet 16.

Baseball to host Troy

The Hokies baseball team will begin a busy and rather big week on Wednesday night when they host No. 20 Troy at English Field. Virginia Tech cracked D1Baseball’s Top 25 this week at No. 25 after winning two out of three games at Notre Dame.

After playing the Trojans, the Hokies will welcome No. 9 Florida State to Blacksburg as Tech will be looking to win a fourth straight ACC series and third against a ranked team. That would be huge for John Szefc and his team.
