It is a crazy time for the transfer portal in college basketball. At the same time, it is a crazy time for the coaching carousel in college basketball. If it's not one, it's the other.
With players entering the portal and looking for new homes, so are coaches and a rumored move for one former Virginia Tech coach was confirmed on Tuesday. Last week when rumors started so swirl that Marylamd coach Kevin Willard was connected to the opening at Villanova, it was reported that former Hokies coach Buzz Williams was interested in replacing him in College Park if he left.
On Monday, Willard officially left and Tuesday, Williams officially was hired to replace Willard at Maryland. It is about the normal time, five to six years, for Williams to move from one school to the next and he'll do a fine job with the Terrapins, for five to six years before looking for his next adventure.
Virginia Tech baseball loses to Radford
On the same day that the Hokies baseball team was ranked No. 25 by Baseball America, they went out and got blown out, 8-1, by Radford in a non-conference game at English Field. Virginia Tech avoided a shutout in the bottom of the ninth on a solo home run from Anderson French. Virginia Tech will head to South Bend this weekend for a three-game ACC series against Notre Dame.
