Virginia Tech Hokies News: Bhayshul Tuten highly-praised, men's soccer scoring rampage
By Scott Roche
As we close in on another weekend in Blacksburg, things will get bust earlier than normal with the Virginia Tech football team hosting a live ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday afternoon and then Boston College later at night. That is where we’ll begin this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News.
Bhayshul Tuten gets praise from RB coach
Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten has been as good as advertised this season so far. He has rushed for just over 600 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He gets most of the Hokies carries and running back’s coach Elijah Brooks explained why that is.
"Bhayshul Tuten is tough to take off the field,'' said Brooks. "There are things he can do that you can't coach. He's in his own class."
Brooks also mentioned that Tuten had been dealing with a knee sprain, but it appears that Virginia Tech’s first bye week came at the right time for him to rest. He should shoulder a heavy workload against Boston College.
Men’s soccer rises in Poll
Tuesday night, the Hokies men’s soccer team rolled to a 6-0 win over Winthrop at Thompson Field after scoring four first half goals. At 7-3-2 overall and just 1-3-1 in the ACC, Virginia Tech will return to the pitch on Saturday night at Wake Forest.
Women’s soccer hits the road
The Hokies women’s soccer team will play the first of their final three ACC matches Thursday night at North Carolina State. On Sunday, Virginia Tech will play at Notre Dame before closing out the regular season at Thompson Field on Halloween against Virginia at 8 p.m.
Volleyball to host UNC & Duke
Fresh off of their first ACC win of the season at Clemson last Sunday, the Hokies volleyball team will return home this weekend to host North Carolina on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then Duke on Sunday at 4 p.m.
