Don't look now, but the unofficial start to the 2025 college football season is here. The ACC Kickoff event in Charlotte is this week, with all teams' coaches and certain players will be made available to the media to discuss a number of topics, including the upcoming season.
The Big 12 and SEC have held their days, and now it's the ACC's turn to take over the spotlight. And here is a list of which days each school will be talking, and looking to avoid bulletin board material, something Vanderbilt couldn't do last week in Atlanta. ACC school offers Virginia Tech men's basketball Class of 2026 recruit
Class of 2026 power forward Quinn Costello from Boston has been generating a ton of interest this summer in terms of recruitment and was offered last month by Mike Young and Virginia Tech. As the summer has gone on, the interest has been growing, and another ACC school extended an offer to The Newman School rising senior.
Florida State has joined the Hokies, North Carolina, Boston College, Notre Dame, Stanford, Syracuse, and Wake Forest from the conference to offer him. Just which schools he'll end up taking visits to remains to be seen, but the Hokies have some heavyweight programs they are up against for Costello.
SEC Media Poll offers interesting results
The first two games this season for the Hokies are against SEC foes, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Virginia Tech will play the Gamecocks in Atlanta on Aug. 31 and then host the Commodores six days later in Blacksburg. The SEC Media Poll for the 2025 season was released, and it was opposite ends of the voting for Tech's two opponents.
South Carolina was picked to finish fifth, with five votes to win the SEC. Vanderbilt was picked to finish 13th, but received two votes to win the SEC, which is something of a yearly ritual. The Hokies will be looking for revenge for an overtime loss last Labor Day Weekend in Nashville.
