All weekend long, the NFL Draft took center stage in the sports world, and five former Virginia Tech players had their names called on Day 3. Following the draft, several more former Hokies earned undrafted free agent contracts and mini-camp invites.

While all of that was going on and the football world was reacting to it, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry picked up a pair of transfer portal commitments. Hawai'i Fighting Rainbows cornerback Caleb Brown committed to the Hokies after taking a visit. Then, Georgia Southern defensive lineman Elhadj Fall committed, giving Sam Siefkes more depth along the d-line. Two very good and needed pickups for Vhead coach Brent Pry.

Softball wins two-out-of-three at Cal

After rolling to wins in the first two games of their ACC series at California over the weekend, the Hokies softball dropped the third game, 4-0, to drop to 17-4 in the conference and 39-8 overall. Getting back on track in California was necessary after dropping two-out-of-three at Pittsburgh last weekend. Virginia Tech wraps up the regular season this upcoming weekend hosting Florida State in a huge three-game set.

Baseball drops two-out-of-three at Duke

The Hokies baseball team continued to go in the wrong direction over the weekend, losing two out of three at Duke to drop their third straight ACC weekend series. After being walked-off in Game 1, 6-3, in the bottom of the 11th inning on Friday night in Game 1 on an A.J. Garcia three-run homer, the Hokies rallied from a 7-0 deficit after three innings on Saturday night to win 9-8 in 11 innings.

In the rubber match on Sunday afternoon, the Blue Devils rolled to a 14-0 rout of the Hokies and dropped Tech to 27-17 overall and 11-13 in the ACC. They host a tough Liberty team on Tuesday night in a non-conference game before traveling to Pittsburgh this upcoming weekend for a three-game conference series.
