After a lot of discussion and multiple mock drafts, the 2025 NFL Draft is finally here. After a very quiet 2024 Draft in Detroit, this weekend in Green Bay is expected to be busy with a number of players from Blacksburg expected to be picked at some point.
Some players had an outstanding NFL Combine back in February and March and raised their stock ahead of the draft. Several players have had multiple meetings with teams, including some teams that are legit Super Bowl contenders not only for the 2025 season, but also in the long term. Virginia Tech is not expected to have any players picked until Day 3, but it's not out of the question to see someone grabbed on Day in rounds two or three.

Players on both sides of the ball are expected to be picked this weekend, including some playmakers on the offensive side. On the defensive side of the ball there are some linemen and players in the secondary who could have their names called. As soon as one is called, we'll update the tracker.
How many picks are in the 2025 Draft?
For this year's draft, there will be 257 selections made beginning Thursday night with the first round and 32 picks. The second and third rounds will be Friday night, then the draft concludes on Saturday with rounds four through seven. Going into the draft, the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens each have the most selections with 11, while the Minnesota Vikings have the least with four.
When can undrafted free agents be signed?
As soon as the final pick is made on Saturday afternoon with the Mr. Irrelevant pick at No. 257 by the Kansas City Chiefs, players who go undrafted are free to sign with any team on an undrafted free agent deal. Last year, a handful of former Hokies went this route to get their foot into the NFL.
