At this time going into the 2024 season, expectations were high for the Virginia Tech football team with all the retention head coach Brent Pry got and the portal additions the Hokies had off a team that turned their 2023 season around in the second half of the season.

Fast forward one year later and things are a lot different in Blacksburg. The Hokies had five players off of their 2024 team drafted in the NFL Draft last month in Green Bay, then another nine signed undrafted free agent deals with teams. Let's not mention the talented players that were lost to the transfer portal.

With spring practices in the book and a slew of new transfers in the fold, just how things end up going for the Hokies in 2025 remains to be seen. A tougher schedule with a new-look roster with more questions than answers makes it difficult to forecast just how things might go for Pry and his team. One betting site has set the over/under win total for Virginia Tech, and it's an encouraging sign.

Virginia Tech football's 2025 win total at one betting site has an encouraging outlook

One betting site, BetMGM, released its over/win totals for the 2025 college football season that begins in less than four months. They have Virginia Tech's number at 6.5, and boy, talk about a tough decision. The over is +110, while the under is -140. Remember, six wins still get the Hokies bowl-eligible if you take the under. It doesn't mean that you can't get a bowl game. It's encouraging that their over/under total is this high.

This is a tough one, if we're being honest. We recently predicted the Hokies' record of their 12-game slate, and we had them going 6-6, but there were just way-too-many close calls that could go either way. The non-conference games at the beginning are tough, with South Carolina and Vanderbilt being the first two. After Week 2, you should have a feeling of whether you'll win or lose should you throw down money on Virginia Tech.
