From the beginning of his recruitment, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has been in on three-star cornerback Nick Reddish. It's easy to understand why, with one of his older brothers, Quentin, committed to the Hokies, and over the winter, his second older brother, Joseph, transferred to Virginia Tech.

Now, maybe the best of the three Reddish's, Nick made his commitment on Friday night, and really, to no one's surprise, he is not going to join his older brothers in Blacksburg, instead, opting for a national powerhouse who was just in the National Championship Game back in January.

Nick Reddish commits to Notre Dame over Virginia Tech and a pair of Big Ten powerhouse programs

What had been expected for some time, Nick Reddish committed to Notre Dame on Friday night over Virginia Tech, Indiana, and Wisconsin. A rising senior at Independence High School in Charlotte, the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder gives the Irish a loaded Class of 2026 in the secondary for head coach Marcus Freeman.

Choosing Notre Dame was far from stunning for Nick Reddish, as Crystal Ball predictions have been logged for the Irish for some time. It would have been very surprising if he had picked Virginia Tech, and it would have been a major recruiting upset and win for Pry.

Virginia Tech still has nine commitments in the Class of 2026, with a handful being on the defensive side of the ball, despite two de-commitments from quarterback Peyton Falzone and wide receiver Carnell Warren, both four-star players.

Virginia Tech had a good start to the month of July in terms of commitments, but they have been on the other end of recent commitments and still looking to get that 10th commit.
