The Virginia Tech football program has seen its fair share of brothers come through the program to play together in Blacksburg. Monday, two days before Christmas, the latest duo to play in the program was made official.
Wingate transfer Joseph Reddish, older brother of Virginia Tech's Quentin Reddish, committed to the Hokies. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound cornerback entered the transfer portal earlier this month and committed to Brent Pry for more depth in the secondary.
This past season at Wingate, Joseph, a sophomore, had 33 tackles, 11 pass breakups, four interceptions, one sack, and a blocked field goal in 11 games. According to 247Sports, he did not play any snaps in 2023 which gives him three years of eligibility remaining coming to Virginia Tech. This move is a big one on the field for the Hokies the next couple of years and also, Nick Reddish, a three-star CB in the Class of 2026, could make it a trio of Reddishs playing at Tech in a few years.
In terms of the present for Pry, Joseph fills a need and is the second cornerback to commit to the Hokies in this portal cycle. On Saturday night, East Carolina's Isaiah Brown-Murray committed to Tech and it rebuilt a room that saw Dorian Strong declare for the NFL Draft, Mansoor Delane transfer to LSU and Jonathan Pennix entered the portal.
Virginia Tech is still in the mix for a couple more transfers for the secondary, but along with Joseph Reddish and Brown-Murray, safties Sherrod Covil, Jr. of Clemson and Tyson Flowers of Rice have transferred into Blacksburg. The NCAA Dead Period is officially here, but it doesn't mean players can't commit, they just can't visit schools. Regardless, another big pickup for the Hokies through this cycle.
