There are several areas on the Virginia Tech football roster where they are being hit hard in terms of replacement in 2025. One of those areas is at wide receiver where their top four targets from this year, Stephen Gosnell, Ali Jennings, Da'Quan Felton, and Jaylin Lane are either going into the NFL Draft or they have used up all of their eligibility.

The transfer portal is the easiest way to quickly reload for the following year and Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry picked up a key player for returning quarterback Kyron Drones and Pop Watson on Friday night.

Wake Forest transfer wide receiver Donavon Greene commits to Virginia Tech

A lot of the recent transfer portal additions for the Hokies have been on the defensive side of the ball or along the offensive line under new coach Matt Moore. Virginia Tech did pick up a commitment from athlete Cameron Seldon of Tennessee who will transition to wide receiver in Blacksburg. He'll be joined by a veteran ACC transfer to bring experience to the room.

Wake Forest transfer Donavon Greene committed to the Hokies and the Mount Airy, N.C. native has a tie to the program being related to freshman running back Tyler Mason. Greene committed to the Demon Deacons in the Class of 2019 and he will be a graduate transfer for the Hokies with one year remaining. He missed the 2021 and 2023 seasons because of an injury.

During his time in Winston-Salem, Greene had 102 catches for almost 1,900 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had four 100-yard receiving games for Wake Forest. Seldon and Greene will bring a ton of experience to a room that has some promising young players in it for the future. Greene will likely not be the last wide receiver added through the portal.
