When Carnell Warren committed to Virginia Tech back in January, it was a big get for head coach Brent Pry. The four-star wide receiver from South Carolina was a nice addition to the Class of 2026 for the former Penn State defensive coordinator.
Last week, out of nowhere, Warren de-committed from Virginia Tech and reopened his recruiting as he enters his senior year in high school. It came as a surprise since, after committing to the Hokies, Warren has been active on social media recruiting players to join him in Blacksburg, but all of a sudden, that all changed.
Now, Pry is left filling a second void in the class after Peyton Falzone de-committed back in November, and he later committed to Penn State. As for Warren, he is taking a visit this upcoming weekend to another ACC school with a future Hall of Fame coach.
Carnell Warren will visit North Carolina this weekend
Warren will be heading to Chapel Hill this weekend to visit new coach Bill Belichick and North Carolina. In the overall big picture, it shouldn't be surprising to see him heading there to visit with Belichick, and if, again, IF, he commits to the Tar Heels, it'll be tough for Pry and Virginia Tech.
I’ll be at North Carolina this weekend! 😶 @ChadSimmons_

North Carolina might not be Warren's only visit since reopening his recruiting as he already received an offer from Georgia Southern, while other schools, Duke, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest, were his finalists, with the Hokies. It wouldn't be surprising to see new Demon Deacons coach Jake Dickert get involved with him before all is said and done.
Since Warren de-committed, the Hokies have picked up two commitments in the Class of 2026, but there is still a lot of work for Pry to do. However, Warren visiting Belichick and UNC this weekend is something worth keeping an eye on.
