When it comes to recruiting in the Class of 2027 for women's basketball, things have been cooking early for Virginia Tech's Megan Duffy and her staff. Already in their third offseason in Blacksburg, the former Marquette head coach his really making strides in recruiting; there is no denying that.

Already in the Class of 2027, the Hokies have commitments from a pair of four-star guards who are ranked on ESPN's 2027 SportCenter NEXT Rankings. Lillie Graves, the 55th-ranked player, committed to Virginia Tech first, then 36th-ranked Dani Robinson committed to the Hokies. Now, looking for frontcourt help, Virginia Tech and Duffy are in the mix for four-star center Khalia Hartwell, accoridng to Dushawn London of 247Sports.

Hartwell, according to London, is down to three schools: Virginia Tech, Georgia, and Iowa. The 6-foot-5 Anderson, South Carolina native is the 71st-ranked player in her class according to ESPN and would give the Hokies three Top 100 recruits should they land her. 247Sports director of scouting, Brandon Clay, dropped a scouting report on her.

She has also set official visits to each of her finalists.

"During her play at Overtime Select, Hartwell demonstrated her presence on both ends of the floor, especially at the rim. Her offensive skills are developing, but defensively, she can be a difference-maker. Hartwell's length on the inside can be matched by only a select few in her class, and she has the potential to become a specialist in that regard over the next couple of years. Timing and blocking shots without fouling are essential skills that the nation’s top programs covet annually,'' wrote Clay.
Hartwell will take a visit to her final three schools, according to London. She is scheduled to visit Georgia on Sept. 4, Iowa on Sept. 11, and Virginia Tech on Sept. 18. Duffy and her staff have done a nice job in the last couple of high school classes recruiting some of the top players to Blacksburg, but getting Hartwell with Graves and Robinson would be a big step in the right direction in terms of recruiting with the big-named programs in the ACC. It won't be easy with Iowa and Georgia involved.
