The final weekend for recruits to take visits before the 2025 season begins in August is this weekend, and Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry is hosting some priority recruits. There are 11 recruits scheduled for the Class of 2026 in Blacksburg, with one particularly notable one.

One name on the list of visitors includes four-star Richmond, Virginia native Amare Gough, who committed to Syracuse on May 25. Despite committing to Fran Brown and the Orange, Gough has taken visits to Virginia on June 5, Maryland on June 13, and Virginia Tech this weekend. He took a visit to Syracuse five days after committing.

If Gough is on campus and still taking visits, then it means that despite being committed to Syracuse, a flip is still in play. A four-star wide receiver at Thomas Jefferson High School, the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is a big playmaker who has separation speed, something that the Hokies and Pry need in this class.

Gough is the ninth-ranked player in the Commonwealth according to 247Sports metrics and the 214th-ranked player in his class. It's easy to see why Brown and Syracuse were so high on him, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him flip to one of the three other schools he has visited.

Wide receiver is certainly a need for Virginia Tech in the Class of 2026 after Carnell Warren from South Carolina de-committed last week and is on a visit this weekend to North Carolina. He was the second member of his class to de-commit from the Hokies after four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone did last fall before landing at Penn State.

Currently, Pry has five commits in the Class of 2026, and unless things drastically change, it could end up being a small class, but getting a flip from Gough would go a long way in adding to the class.
