As soon as James Franklin was hired at Virginia Tech back in November, one of his first orders of business was getting to work on flipping as many recruits as he could from Penn State to Blacksburg. One of the recruits that he was able to flip was a four-star quarterback, Troy Huhn, from California.
If there is one thing that Virginia Tech fans are going to love getting used to, it's that under Franklin, they are going to be in on a lot of signal callers in recruiting that they weren't in on for years. Sure, the commitment to the program with money and NIL is going to play a big role in that, however, so is Franklin and quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien.
That was the case back in December when four-star quarterback Peter Bourque decommitted from Michigan after Sherrone Moore was let go. As soon as his recruiting reopened, Franklin and O'Brien hopped back into his pursuit, this time at another school.
They were in on him when he first committed to Michigan, when they were at Penn State. He was listed as one of the Top 10 quarterbacks in the Class of 2027 by Rivals, and Hokies fans should get used to seeing the Virginia Tech logo on recruiting graphics.
Virginia Tech fans are going to love watching James Franklin recruit
James Franklin and recruiting are words that went well together when he was at Penn State, and this is quickly becoming the case at Virginia Tech. Fans could only dream about seeing the Hokies' logo pop up on graphics like Rivals' top QBs committed in the Class of 2027.

Going into his senior season at Tabor Academy in Massachusetts, it wouldn't be surprising to see Bourque potentially rise to a five-star. He already made a name for himself at the Elite 11 earlier this season and is primed for a huge senior season in the Bay State. The list of names that are on the list with him is very impressive.
Bourque has a big arm and can throw the ball downfield with great accuracy. He is the type of signal caller that Franklin and O'Brien routinely brought to Penn State. Now they are going to attract them to Virginia Tech. It would be surprising if Franklin ever had a recruiting class in Blacksburg that didn't have at least one four-star quarterback in it. Virginia Tech fans are going to love the fruits of James Franklin's labor in recruiting as time goes on with the Hokies.
