Three weeks into the season, conference play is set to begin for the Virginia Tech baseball team this weekend. The Hokies will be hosting Georgia Tech on the first of their 10 weekends of ACC play at English Field beginning Friday afternoon.
Virginia Tech comes into the series at 10-3 after sweeping two games during the week against Norfolk State, 13-0 on Tuesday and 15- 5 on Wednesday. Through their first 13 games, the Hokies’ offense has broken out, while their pitching has had their ups and downs, which is expected early in the season.
How to watch Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech baseball weekend series
With it being early March, these games will begin in the afternoon on all three days and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
- Game 1: Friday, 4 p.m.
- Game 2: Saturday, 3 p.m.
- Game 3: Sunday, 1 p.m.
Georgia Tech comes into the game at 11-2, but Virginia Tech will be looking for a little revenge as last April when the Hokies were ranked 16th in the country, the Yellow Jackets took 2-out-of-3 games in Atlanta. Virginia Tech won the opener, 11-0, but Georgia Tech won Game 2, 19-0, then rallied to win Game 3, 11-7. That series began the Hokies' downfall as they went from a team looking like an NCAA Tournament team to missing the field altogether.
Through the first three weekends of series and games, Virginia Tech has done what you need to do, they have won each weekend, taking 2-out-of-3 games. It started with Bucknell opening weekend, followed by winning two against UNC Greensboro and then winning two games last weekend at the Keith LeClair Classic.
Last season Virginia Tech got off on the right foot in ACC play, and this season, the schedule is more difficult, which makes this an important weekend for the Hokies.
