Following her first season in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech women's basketball coach Megan Duffy has her work cut out for her in terms of building a roster for the 2025-26 season. She had a short roster for her first year in charge of the Hokies, and adding to it this season through the portal is a must after losing a couple of players to it, along with Rose Micheaux and Matilda Ekh to graduation.

Duffy has got some retention from key players, but she did lose Lani White to the transfer portal. Replacing bodies through the portal is a must, and Duffy has already added some. While adding players through the portal is a must, Duffy has some incoming freshmen who could very well break into the lineup as soon as next season. Two of them made ESPN's Top 100 in their final recruiting rankings for the Class of 2025.

Duffy has a talented Class of 2025 coming in for next season as she struck big in recruiting. Last May, Katie Sears was one of Duffy's first commits at Virginia Tech and Amani Jenkins followed. Both players finished ranked in ESPN's Top 100 final rankings for the Class of 2025.

Jenkins finished with the highest ranking of the two, coming in at No. 74, and Sears wasn't too far behind at No. 82. Sears. Both have a four-star ranking coming to Blacksburg.

This past season, Kayl Petersen stepped into the rotation this year for the Hokies and became a player who saw her game grow as the season went along. Virginia Tech will need both Jenkins and Sears step in next season and make a contribution, something that you expect to see at this point.
