When he didn't hear his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft, former Virginia Tech wide receiver Stephen Gosnell didn't sulk. Instead, he looked for his next opportunity to try and find a way into an NFL camp and try to impress enough to stick around for a while.

That chance came when the Buffalo Bills signed him to an undrafted free agent contract, giving him a chance to make a roster with a legitimate Super Bowl contender and the hands-down best team in the AFC East. Gosnell has turned some heads already in camp with a highlight reel catch of a Josh Allen pass last week, and then having a solid preseason opener against the New York Giants this past Saturday in Western New York. All of that, plus other factors, are making the former Hokies pass catcher a fan and team favorite with the Bills.

Against the Giants, Gosnell had four receptions for 30 yards and a nifty 7.5 yards per catch. I know, it's only the preseason, and he didn't go against any of the Giants' ones or twos, but if there is one thing that Buffalo fans will learn that Virginia Tech fans already know, just give him a chance and throw the ball in his area, and he'll make a play. We saw it too many times in Blacksburg.

Gosnell is winning over his teammates as well as offensive coordinator Joe Brady in his first camp as a pro.

"Oh yeah, I like him," said running back Ty Johnson. "I like him a lot."

"Steve, that's my guy, bro," added wide receiver Khalil Shakir. "I like him a lot."

Gosnell has a chance to become an undrafted free agent to a contributor on a team that is a serious threat to win the AFC and get to the Super Bowl and maybe even win it. No, it isn't a guarantee that he makes the 53-man roster for Buffalo's season opener, but if he continues to make the catches he's making in practice and games, it's going to be very difficult for Brady and head coach Sean McDermott to keep him off the roster. As mentioned above, just throw the ball in his area and he'll make a catch, no matter how difficult.

Gosnell could be a real hidden gem this summer.
