Camp is over, and it is the first game week for the Virginia Tech football team in 2025. This is a big season for a number of reasons and one where there are more questions than answers. The hype is nowhere close to what it was this time last year, and maybe, just maybe, that's a good thing.

The beginning of the schedule isn't easy with a pair of SEC schools beginning on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against 13th-ranked South Carolina. Without further ado, here are the final projections for the Hokies' upcoming season and final game-by-game predictions.

Predicting Virginia Tech's 2025 football results

Aug. 31: vs. South Carolina, Atlanta

The Gamecocks got big news with running back Rahsul Faison was granted a waiver to play the upcoming season and he'll be on the field against the Hokies. It really doesn't change the outcome much, but it makes South Carolina that much tougher if he does indeed carry the ball.

Prediction: South Carolina 31, Virginia Tech 23
Record: 0-1

Sept. 6: vs. Vanderbilt

Virginia Tech fans have had this game circled for over a year since the season-opening overtime loss last Labor Day Weekend in Nashville. This is a very quick turnaround, just six days after playing South Carolina, but the Hokies should be fired up for this one.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 27, Vanderbilt 20
Record: 1-1

Sept. 13: vs. Old Dominion

The second of three straight home games after the opener against South Carolina, this is a game that is a must-win for the Hokies if they have any intentions of becoming bowl-eligible. They have beaten the Mornarchs easily the last two years and should again this fall.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 38, Old Dominion 17
Record: 2-1

Sept. 20: vs. Wofford

The Terriers are considered a bye-game for the Hokies and should be a chance to get a lot of players some playing time.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 42, Wofford 16
Record: 3-1

Sept. 27: at North Carolina State

Virginia Tech opens ACC play in Raleigh against the Wolfpack and this is a toss-up that really could go either way. This will be a close game and we all know how Brent Pry does in close games, right? This close game doesn't go his way, but one will this year, trust me.

Prediction: North Carolin State 24, Virginia Tech 20
Record: 3-2 (0-1 ACC)

Oct. 4: vs. Wake Forest

The Hokies' opening ACC home tilt is against a Demon Deacons team that is playing under first-year coach Jake Dickert. Wide receiver Donavon Greene gets to go against his old team, and expect him to be fed early.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 35, Wake Forest 21
Record: 4-2 (1-1 ACC)

Oct. 11: at Georgia Tech

If the Hokies have the matchup with Vanderbilt circled on their schedule, Yellow Jackets' fans have this game circled after a 21-6 loss last season in Blacksburg. Haynes King leads a Georgia Tech team with Virginia Tech-type vibes at this time last year. The Hokies go 0-for-2 in Atlanta this year.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 28, Virginia Tech 17
Record: 4-3 (1-2 ACC)

Oct. 24: vs. California

After their first of two byes, the Hokies get a primetime Friday night game at home this season after playing one on the road last season at Miami. The Bears are stuck in the middle of not expected to be good, but just how bad? After 13 days off, Tech will be well-rested.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 30, California 13
Record: 5-3 (2-2 ACC)

Nov. 1: vs. Louisville

A lot of analysts are high on Miller Moss and the Cardinals this year, and Virginia Tech gets them at home. Two years ago, Louisville rolled to a win at home in November, but this one is going to be close.

Prediction: Louisville 24, Virginia Tech 20
Record: 5-4 (2-3 ACC)

Nov. 15: at Florida State

Virginia Tech had a lot of success against Thomas Castellanos when he was at Boston College, but after heading down to FSU, he'll have more talent around him this year than he had at BC the last two years. You know he'll be fired up to finally get the best of Virginia Tech's defense for a change.

Prediction: Florida State 28, Virginia Tech 27
Record: 5-5 (2-4 ACC)

Nov. 22: vs. Miami

Miami comes to Blacksburg with Carson Beck under center, assuming he's healthy, and he'll be looking to do what Cam Ward couldn't do last year: win late-November road games to get the Hurricanes to the ACC Championship Game. Miami in cold weather in November? Brent Pry gets his one-score win and signature win he's been looking for.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 26, Miami 23
Record: 6-5 (3-4 ACC)

Nov. 29: at Virginia

For the first time under Pry, the Hokies will be heading into the Commonwealth Clash bowl-eligible, but it doesn't matter what the records have been lately as the Hokies have dominated the Cavaliers on Thanksgiving Weekend. Virginia could very well come into this game with seven or eight wins with the schedule they have, but the Hokies get it done, again.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 29, Virginia 21
Record: 7-5 (4-4 ACC)

There you have it, count me in as someone who thinks the Hokies will surprise this year to take the heat off of their head coach. I'm liking the vibes this year and everything that is being said. The two new coordinators and new offensive line coach will have a major impact.
