Thursday night, the NCAA Tournament committee released their second and final Top 16 reveal for the upcoming NCAA women's basketball tournament. There was a lot of movement since the last reveal and the one team that benefitted the most in between reveals was Virginia Tech.

At the first reveal, the Hokies were a No. 3 seed and the 10th seed overall. Since then, Kenny Brooks and his team won each game and in fact, they are on a 10-game winning streak heading into tonight's ACC road game at Notre Dame. Thursday night, the Hokies moved up to a No. 2 seed and they jumped up five spots to the No. 5 overall seed. Here is the breakdown by regionals,

Regional 1 in Albany

  • 1. South Carolina
  • 2. Iowa
  • 3. Oregon State
  • 4. Oklahoma

Regional 2 in Albany

  • 1. Ohio State
  • 2. USC
  • 3. LSU
  • 4. Colorado

Regional 4 in Portland

  • 1. UCLA
  • 2. Virginia Tech
  • 3. UConn
  • 4. Gonzaga

Regional 3 in Portland

  • 1. Stanford
  • 2. Texas
  • 3. NC State
  • 4. Indiana

There is a lot of time between tonight and the NCAA Tournament release on March 17 for all the teams to move up and down and even out of the Top 16 which means that would not be able to host the first and second rounds. As far as Virginia Tech is concerned, they have a golden opportunity to solidify their spot at Notre Dame, then in the ACC Tournament next week in Greensboro, North Carolina.
