Virginia Tech to face an abundance of receivers on Biletnikoff Award Watch List
By Scott Roche
The annual watch list for the Biletnikoff Award was released and the Virginia Tech defense this season will have their hands full with several talented wide receivers who were on the list. Six players who will line up across from the Hokies unit led by Chris Marve were on the list.
As for Virginia Tech, they had no receivers on the list for the award, which is given annually to a wide receiver, tight end, split end, inside receiver, slot back or running back who is eligible to catch a pass, but names can be added to the watch list as the season goes along.
This season, Virginia Tech will face Elic Ayomanor of Stanford, Malachi Fields of Virginia, Jordan Moore of Duke, and three Miami receivers Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, and Samuel Brown. Other ACC receivers that made the list include Kevin Concepcion of North Carolina State and Caullin Lacy of Louisville. The good news for Virginia Tech is that they'll get four out of the six out of the way early in the season in their first two conference games when they travel to Miami and Stanford, then play Fields and Moore over the final two weeks of the season.
No Virginia Tech names on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List
Despite having a lot of retainment, the Hokies did not get anyone on the list. That could change during the season and they do have some names that might end up there. Ali Jennings is a name that could pop up as the season goes along, as are Da'Quan Felton and Jaylin Lane. One issue they might have is all the talent that quarterback Kyron Drones and offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen have to spread the ball around to different playmakers. However, if one or two stand out and become a top option, then they could find their name on the watch list when it's updated.
