Virginia Tech set to sport new look for season-opener against Vanderbilt
By Scott Roche
Friday, the Vanderbilt football X account announced that Saturday's season-opener at FirstBank Stadium against Virginia Tech is sold out. Judging by social media, there is a good reason why a school that struggles at times with attendance is selling out as it appears that they are in store for a rather large Virginia Tech fan takeover of Nashville.
We'll have to wait and see what the ratio of Vanderbilt fans to Virginia Tech's ends up being, but one thing is for sure no matter who is in the stands, they are going to see one of the Hokies brand new uniforms that they are using this season, which they released on their X account.
The Hokies will be wearing their road white uniform that is a sharp looking jersey with a maroon collar and their all white pants with the wordmark "Hokies" on them. The helmets are sharp as well with the stripe in the middle going from front to back with the stripe matching the primary VT logo.
Earlier this spring AD Whit Babcock and head coach Brent Pry admitted that there were new uniforms that Virginia Tech would be wearing this fall. Still, they were not fully released until July and at the ACC Media Week in late July in Charlotte and the reviews were as good back then as they are today.
This is Year 3 of the Pry-era in Blacksburg and they are beginning the season with a lot of hype and brand new uniforms. The Hokies will take the field with new sharp-looking uniforms and a lot of momentum coming off a strong finish to the 2023 season and a lot of their top players back. Can't wait to see it all come together finally in 2024.
