Going into the 2024 college football season, there are several quarterbacks around the country who are grabbing all the headlines. In the ACC, there is no shortage of talented QBs and some are considered as some of the best in the country.

One quarterback who could end up having a very good season is Kyron Drones at Virginia Tech. There are many reasons why it could happen, including his ability to run the ball, and the running game with back Bhayshul Tuten returning while he also brings back a majority of the offensive line along with four key wide receivers. All of that adds to up what could be a very entertaining fall in terms of putting up points. But just where does Drones rank among the other signal callers in the country? Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked his Top 25 and Drones was somewhat surprisingly low.

National college football writer has interresting ranking for Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones

Crawford ranked the ever-changing world of quarterbacks with camps expected to open very soon and Drones checked in at No. 23 in the rankings.

"Brent Pry found gold in the transfer portal last cycle, landing Drones from Baylor who took the ACC by storm as a reliable dual-threat option for the Hokies, doing so after an injury to Grant Wells in September. He was responsible for 22 touchdowns and nearly 3,000 yards of total offense as a first-time starter and worked on his game this offseason, training with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward. He has a chance to lead the conference in rushing for a quarterback if he stays healthy."

There is no doubt that Pry found gold in the transfer portal with Drones as Hokies' fans saw over the final three months of the season. He has an opportunity to be one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the ACC and it wouldn't be surprising to see him rise during the season if he stays healthy in this ranking with the offensive talent surrounding him. It feels like he should ranked higher, but hey, let's keep sleeping on him.
