There are more questions than answers surrounding the future of the ACC. This season the conference is welcoming SMU, California, and Stanford, while Clemson and Florida State are trying to exit. Easier said than done.

Reports have surfaced over the last few days that the Big Ten and SEC do not want to add in expansion, leaving the Big 12 as the most likely destination should either schools leave. Of course, in this day and age of realignment, things can change at any moment.

If FSU and Clemson or even one of them leave the ACC, where does the conference go from there? Would other schools look to leave? Yes, they would, but which schools carry the most appeal to any of the other conferences? That is the great debate that will be had for a very long time.

If the ACC starts to follow the path the PAC-12 did with the conference falling apart, what would that mean for Virginia Tech? That leaves the administration in a position that they would not want to be facing. However, that hasn't stopped oddsmakers from setting odds and one betting site released odds as to which teams would join the SEC if Commissioner Greg Sankey did decide to add.

Vegas oddsmakers release odds if SEC expanded again

Two days ago, Sankey said he was focused on the current 16 teams in the SEC after Texas and Oklahoma were added this fall. He said that he's not a recruiter, but he is keeping an eye on the ACC, Florida State, and Clemson. Again, read into that any way you would like.

Vegas oddsmakers released odds if the SEC expanded again and Virginia Tech had the fifth-best odds at +600. North Carolina led the way at +300 followed by Clemson (+350), Florida State (+400), Virginia (+500), and then Virginia Tech. Below the Hokies are Miami (+1200), Oklahoma State (+1500), and The Field +1300.

The SEC makes the most sense for Virginia Tech in terms of travel, but if expansion did happen, the Big 12 would likely be the destination for the Hokies. Again, don't believe what the Big Ten and SEC are saying as realignment talk could happen at any time and it wouldn't be surprising to see something happen at some point.
