In this edition of Virginia Tech News, signing day is officially here, a Hokies defensive player in the transfer portal receives two offers from schools and more.

Derrick Canteen receives two offers in the transfer portal

Derrick Canteen entered the transfer portal with one more year remaining and the defensive back has been receiving offers from multiple schools. He recently picked up a pair of offers from two Power 5 schools, TCU and Mississippi State.

It remains to be seen where he ends up, but whoever gets him is getting an impact player who played really well for Virginia Tech who had 42 tackles, 20 solo and one interception.

Early signing day is Wednesday

The early signing period for the Class of 2024 for football is here and Virginia Tech has many recruits ready to sign on the dotted line. The Hokies currently have 16 commits for next season. Four players, Kemar Copeland, Aeneas Peebles, Montavious Cunningham, and Sam Brumfield committed through the transfer portal.

Virginia Tech men's basketball creeping up in the latest bracketology

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team has one more non-conference game remaining against American on Thursday night before ACC play kicks into high gear on Dec. 30 at Wake Forest. The Hokies are 8-3 and 1-0 on conference play with a 75-68 win over Louisville on Dec. 3.

In the latest bracketology for ESPN, Joe Lunardi has Virginia Tech as one of the first four teams out, up from the next four out last week before the Hokies beat Vermont Saturday at Cassell Coliseum. South Carolina, who beat Virginia Tech earlier this season in Charlotte, is the last team in the field according to Lunardi.
