Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young has been working the recruiting trails very hard the last couple of months. The veteran coach has had to dive deep into the transfer portal to put together a roster for the 2024-25 season after he had a mass exodus from Blacksburg following an NIT loss to Ohio State in March.

Young has building a roster that includes some really tough atheltic players that will give his team a different look next season than the one they had this past season. He is also looking to make progress with recruiting in the Class of 2025 and got some good news when it comes to a four-star guard.

Four-star shooting guard Jaylen Harrell from the Boston area released his Top 6 schools and Virginia Tech made the cut. Also joining them were Alabama, Kansas, Xavier, Rutgers, and Providence. Harrell spoke to On3 Sports about each school and here is what he had to say about Virginia Tech earlier this year,

"Virginia Tech is in my top six because they’re a tough program that’s always going to compete, no matter what. If there is a man down, they still compete. They have multiple guys that are two-way players, which makes them a well-balanced team. They’re a good shooting program that likes to go and get down the floor. I could fit in their program because of their toughness and willingness to win. I’m developing a relationship with coach (Christian) Webster and we are planning on taking a visit soon."

According to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports, Harrell will make his decision before the end of the month on May 27 and Virginia Tech is clearly in the mix for the 6-foot-6 CATS Academy shooting guard.
