When four-star Class of 2025 women's basketball recruit Aniya Trent was being heavily recruited, she never thought that Virginia Tech was an option. Then, when Kenny Brooks left Blacksburg for Kentucky, the Hokies hired Megan Duffy from Marquette.

Virginia Tech entered the picture after Duffy was settled into Blacksburg and the first-year coach must have made quite the impression. She wanted to make her decision based on where there was a family feel and culture. She found that with Duffy and her staff.

Aniya Trent commits to Virginia Tech

Monday, Trent committed to Virginia Tech over Clemson, Penn State, and Washington. The Springboro, Ohio native is another four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 that Duffy has landed in her short time with the Hokies. She also mentioned to On3 that current Virginia Tech assistant Jen Hoover, who came from Kentucky, was recruiting her when she was with the Wildcats.

“I chose VT because as soon as I got on campus, it felt like home,'' Trent told On3. "The coaches, the players, just the people in general were amazing and have been so amazing to me. They believe in me and want to win, and that is also what I want to do these next four years.”

Currently, in the Class of 2025, Duffy already has commitments from four-star guard Katie Sears from North Carolina and wing Amani Jenkins from Iowa. Trent is a forward and was highly recruited over the last couple of seasons, but once Virginia Tech entered the picture, they were able to get her. She has a very good post presence and if she is able to work on her outside shot once she gets to Blacksburg, she'll be a force for the Hokies at both ends of the floor.
