In this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News, the football team named a slew of titles to the current football staff, a Hokies wide receiver proposes, and more.

Virginia Tech announces title changes to football staff

With new NCAA rules, it gives former analysts an opportunity to be part of the coaching staff and it allows more people to be able to coach on the field and help the development of their players.

The following staff now have an opportunity to be coaches, Xavier Adibi (Associate Linebackers Coach), Gunter Brewer (Director of HS Relations/Senior Offensive Analyst), Brian Crist (C-Quarterbacks Coach), Brent Davis (Co-Offensive Line Coach), Brayden Devault-Smith (Assistant Cornerbacks Coach/Quality Control), Austin Fields (Assistant Offensive Line Coach/Quality Control), Jeron Gouveia-Winslow (Associate Safeties Coach), Jan Johnson (Assistant Defensive Line Coach), Brandon McCombs (assistant Special Teams/Specialist Coach), Mike Moyseenko (associate Tight Ends Coach), and Cam Phillips (Assistant Wide Receviers Coach/Quality Control).

Jaylin Lane makes huge decision

Wide receiver Jaylin Lane was one of four receivers to come back for the 2024 season along with Ali Jennings, Stephen Gosnell, and Da'Quan Felton to give quarterback Kyron Drones a number of options throwing the ball. He had a nervous moment this summer and gave a funny answer.

Lane proposed to his girlfriend a few weeks ago and Tuesday when he met with the media, he joked, ""I'd rather play a championship game in front of a million people than go through that.'' She said yes and hopefully Lane gets to play in a championship game this season as well.

Dave Cianelli added to USFTCCCA Hall of Fame Class

Virginia Tech legendary coach Dave Cianelli was added to the USFTCCCA Hall of Fame 2024 Class Tuesday. He had an illustrious career in Blacksburg as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country from 2001-24. A well-deserved honor for a great coach.
