Last week Kenny Brooks left Virginia Tech for Kentucky after the Hokeis were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in the second round against Baylor. It took six days before the effect was going to be felt by the Hokies program, but for the second time in two days, two key members with eligibility left entered the transfer portal.

Georgia Amoore last week said goodbye to Virginia Tech fans with an Instagram message, and then on Monday, she officially entered the transfer portal with a no-contact tag, leaving speculation of where she is going to end up next season, likely with Brooks. Tuesday, a freshman with a bright future followed her teammate into the transfer portal.

Clara Strack enters the transfer portal

Freshman Clara Strack, who was seen as Elizabeth Kitley's replacement at Virginia Tech, entered the transfer portal Tuesday and like Amoore, she has a no-contact tag. That likely means she'll follow Brooks to Kentucky.

When Kitley went down with a torn ACL on March 3 in the third quarter of the regular season final at Virginia, Strack got a majority of time in her place in the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. After getting two games under her belt in the ACC Tournament, she looked like a different player in the NCAA Tournament with two weeks to prepare.

Against Marshall in a first-round win in Blacksburg, she had 17 points and five rebounds, then in a 75-72 loss to Baylor in the second round, she had 18 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes in what turned out to be her final games as a Hokie.

You could see a big difference in her all-around game, most importantly her confidence and ability to play around the basket and finish through contact against a physical Baylor team. She is a rising star and will break out over the next couple of seasons wherever she ends up and unfortunately, it won't be Blacksburg. She likely won't be the last player entering the portal either.
