There is still work for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff to do with the transfer portal. After getting a commitment from UCLA quarterback Collin Schlee last week, the Hokies still have some scholarships available. There are needs that they have, another offensive lineman, a cornerback, or maybe a running back.

One area that Pry hit it big with back over the winter in the portal was on the defensive side of the ball by adding two linemen and a linebacker. The Hokies do have some retainment along the defensive line despite losing a couple of players and if there is one area that they have added depth to, it’s along the defensive front.

Looking to make another addition there, Virginia Tech is reportedly going to host an Alabama defensive lineman transfer.

Virginia Tech to host Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry

Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry, who was a Top 55 recruit in the Class of 2025 is reportedly going to visit the Hokies. The 6-foot-2, 265-pound Alabama native who played at Park Crossing High School, chose the Crimson Tide on signing day over in-state rival Auburn, along with Clemson, Texas and Central Florida.

Perry is a talented lineman and according to Gabe Brooks of 247Sports back in 2021, he noted that Perry has plenty of potential not only in college, but also at the next level.

"Plays like a big, powerful edge but could thrive as an even-front 3-technique who's asked to penetrate and disrupt. Projects to the high-major level as a potential impact player with a long-term early-round NFL Draft ceiling."

Virginia Tech has a lot of good players along the defensive front, but adding a player like Perry would make them that much deeper an able to rotate fresh bodies, which would not bode well for opponents.
