Games 5-8

Game 5: at Miami
Game 6: at Stanford
Game 7: vs. Boston College
Game 8: vs. Georgia Tech

This is where things get very interesting for the Hokies. Their first two ACC games are road games and it’s not going to be easy. They open up conference play at Miami on a Friday night and the Hurricanes have added Washington State transfer QB Cam Ward who chose them over entering the NFL Draft. After that, Virginia Tech has to fly across the country to California to play Stanford, who is joining the conference this season. The Cardinal are not the same team they were five years ago, but they are expected to be better this season and they passed Tech in the latest returning production rankings to No. 2 with 85% of it coming back post-spring.

Virginia Tech finally gets back-to-back home games with Boston College and Georgia Tech coming to Blacksburg. The Eagles have undergone a big turnover with Bill O’Brien coming in as head coach replacing Jeff Hafley who left in February to become the defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos returns, but he had a rough game last November against the Hokies. Yellow Jackets QB Haynes King returns and they have made some additions, but it remains to be seen just how good Georgia Tech is going to be.

Record: 7-1
