Virginia Tech Football: Hokies land prized defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles in the transfer portal
By Scott Roche
Over the last couple of weeks, the Virginia Tech football team has been quiet in terms of getting players from the transfer portal to commit for next season. Several of their key players on defense and offense have announced that they’re coming back in 2024, but the transfer portal noise has been quiet.
That all changed on Monday.
Three days after offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham committed to Virginia Tech for next season, the Hokies landed one of the biggest defensive linemen in the transfer portal.
Aeneas Peebles commits to Virginia Tech
All-ACC defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles of Duke announced on X that he will be coming to Blacksburg in 2024 to make the defensive line one of the best in the ACC. This season for the Blue Devils, the Raleigh, North Carolina native had 40 tackles, including four sacks.
Peebles will solidify a defensive front next season that already has Antwaun Powell-Ryland and his 9.5 sacks returning along with Josh Fuga. In the secondary, Virginia Tech has already had Mansoor Delane and Dorian Strong returning for defensive coordinator Chris Marve.
Things are really falling into place for the Hokies in 2024 with all the players returning and getting Cunningham and Peebles in the transfer portal. The culture that head coach Brent Pry and his staff are creating is something that is getting players to return to Blacksburg and transfer there. This is turning into a special last couple of weeks for Virginia Tech.
